Joe,
has there been any more talk amongst your planning commission folks and/or neighbors regarding the separation of the city-county schools? It is my view that this is the time to make the break. In addition to my concerns as a parent and taxpayer, I am none too pleased seeing children bused long distances to remote county schools. Many of these folks don’t have cars and these distances have serious repercussions on their daily lives.
What are your thoughts on the school issue?

An idea is being explored among some City residents to encourage homeowners to place a restriction in their deed which requires the house to be owner-occupied. The concept is still in its infancy. Below is an excerpt from the minutes of the November 6, 2004 meeting of the Neighborhood Council of Williamsburg in which David Kranbuehl, perhaps the originator of the idea, discusses why it is important to the local economy to increase owner-occupancy.
